Seven cars slid into each other on the Bausch Street Bridge just north of downtown Rochester on Saturday afternoon.
Police say the accident on the east side of the bridge was caused by black ice; a combination of the wet road, high winds and falling temperatures. Nine people were hurt and five of the cars were badly damaged enough they had to be towed away.
Eight patients were taken either to Strong Memorial or Rochester General Hospital. One person was treated by paramedics at the scene. All the injuries were minor.
The bridge was closed for several hours after the 3:45 p.m. accident.
