Ambulance Company Gets Judge's OK to Emerge from Chapter 11

Ambulance service provider Rural/Metro Corporation says a Bankruptcy judge has approved the company’s reorganization plan. Rural/Metro expects to formally emerge from Chapter 11 in the next few weeks.

The company says it will emerge with 50 percent less debt, greater capital flexibility and the resources to continue investing in patient care.

Over a 12-month period, Rural/Metro plans to invest $40 million in capital enhancements to add to its fleet and develop new billing and accounting systems.
