Rochester, NY -- An analysis of DWI arrest statistics for our nine-county region shows arrest numbers were down in 2013 for a second consecutive year -- and sharply lower than they were in 2008.
Area attorney Peter Pullano, with the Tully Rinckey firm, says there is only one factor: Smarter drivers. He says drivers are being more careful to stay away from the wheel when they are intoxicated.
DWI arrests in the region were down four-tenths of one percent last year. The numbers fell more than 4 percent in Monroe and Livingston counties.
Pullano says the only other possible explanation would be less enforcement -- but he says we know police are doing their job.
