A proceedural roadblock has stopped the Badge of Honor Association from putting up highway signs honoring seven Monroe County deputies who died on the job. But the group will be able to dedicate four signs later this week outside the Monroe County Jail.
The site was chosen because two of the fallen officers were jail deputies.
The Badge of Honor Association has put up commemorative signs in Buffalo, Rochester and Syracuse dedicated to law officers killed in line of duty. It wants to put up seven roadside memorials to Monroe County deputies, but the signs don't meet State Transportation Department regulations.
