Canandaigua Man Charged With Shaking Assault of Infant

Canandaigua, NY -- Authorities say a 12 week-old baby boy remains hospitalized with two injuries consistent with violent shaking, and a Canandaigua man has been arrested.

The Ontario County Sheriff's Office says Joshua O'Mailey, 28, admitted under questioning that he shook the infant. The investigation began after the child became lethargic and refused to eat. He was brought to the hospital Christmas Eve.

O'Mailey is charged with reckless assault of a child. Investigators aren't commenting on the relationship between O'Mailey and the baby.
