Rochester The City of Rochester has named the winning improvement projects chosen in votes by residents of each city quadrant. Each area is getting up to $50,000.
In the Southwest, the winning program will provide job referrals and mentors for 30 adults and tutoring for 60 young people.
In the Southeast quadrant, the money will be used for civic engagement opportunities like traffic calming discussions, mini-Clean Sweeps, landscaping and community nights.
The Northwest quadrant project is aimed at encouraging pedestrian traffic and discouraging loitering, street drug sales and gambling.
And The Northeast quadrant money will allow 5 to 10 more students to take part in after-school training in the operation of Geographic Information Systems technology.
