The Buffalo Bills said E-J Manuel is scheduled for what's described as "a minor knee proceedure."
The Bills issued a statement saying Manuel had some swelling in his left knee yesterday after Friday night's game against the Minnesota Vikings. He had an MRI, which revealed the need for knee surgery. His proceedure has been scheduled, but it means Manuel will miss the rest of the preseason -- and it also means Kevin Kolb starts at quarterback for the next game against the Washington Redskins.
The team also said wide receiver Kevin Elliott has torn his ACL and will be out for the rest of the season .
Head Coach Doug Marrone is scheduled to comment after this morning's practice at Saint John Fisher.
There was no indication Manuel had suffered an injury after Friday night’s Vikings game and no mention of it in the postgame interviews. But Marrone was asked about his quarterback plans for the Redskins preseason game, and he was hesitant to commit to a starter.
