Fairport Teacher Remembered

Rochester, N.Y. – A beloved Fairport teacher killed by two drunk drivers on July 29, 2012 will be commemorated in a 5k  Run/Walk Sunday meant to raise money for her children's education. Megan Merkel and Mark Scerbo were involved in the accident on Route 250 in the town of Perinton that ended the life of Heather Boyum.

“Heather was a tremendous athlete as well as a devoted wife, mother, teacher and friend,” says the local head of Mom’s In Motion Bonnie Venton. “She always found a way to make her fitness a priority.”

In honor of Heather, the bicycle club will be hosting a 5k Sunday to raise money to help educate the children of the tri-athlete.

Registration has already closed but you can still donate to the scholarship fund and cheer on the runners and walkers outside the Perinton Recreation Center.
