Federal Grant Will Help Refugees Open Day Care Centers

Rochester, NY -- A federal grant will make it possible for refugees now living in Rochester to open family child care businesses.

The $185,000 is coming from the Office of Refugee Resettlement and will pay for training and supplies for up to 36 new child care providers.

Congresswoman Louise Slaughter's office says the grant will enable refugee parents to enter the workforce with confidence that their children are getting care in their native language and from providers who understand the child's cultural background.
