Rochester, NY -- The federal government has approved a $17.7 million grant to fill-in the eastern section of Rochester's Inner Loop.
The idea is to connect the downtown area with the Neighborhood of the Arts, Park Avenue and the South Wedge.
Congresswoman Louse Slaughter says a study showed it would be worthwhile economic development project.
Mayor Tom Richards says it will promote walking and biking and create a new corridor for businesses, shops and housing.
The city is chipping in nearly $6 million for the project, which calls for filling in the section of the loop between Monroe Avenue and just north of East Avenue
