Kwanzaa Founder to Speak in Rochester Sunday

Rochester, NY -- The creator of Kwanzaa will be speaking Sunday in Rochester.

Activist Dr. Maulana Karenga chairs the African Studies Department at California State-Long Beach. Karenga was a major figure in the Black Power movement and co-founded the black organization US.

He created Kwanzaa in 1966.

Karenga will speak Sunday at 2 p.m. as part of a Kwanzaa celebration at the Memorial Art Gallery. Seating is limited.
