Livingston Jail Deputies Accused in Time Card Scheme

Geneseo, NY -- Nine Livingston County Sheriff's deputies working at the county jail have been arrested on charges for allegedly falsifying time cards.

They reportedly paid cash to part-timers to work the shifts they reported having worked themselves.

Livingston County Sheriff Thomas Dougherty says he can't comment on the state police investigation.

He says however that seven employees have resigned in the last week and two others resigned previously. Now that they have resigned, Dougherty says those workers won't face internal actions.

Dougherty says safeguards have been put in place to prevent a recurrence. And he says he will be available for questions at a state police news conference Monday in Geneseo.
