A man is dead and his passenger in the hospital after a crash in the Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge.
The Orleans County Sheriff's Office says the car was going south on Route 63 when the driver lost control about 11:35 this morning, ran off the far side of the road and landed upside-down in a flooded swamp.
Shelby firefighters pried the victims out of the wreck and they were taken to Medina Memorial Hospital. The male victim was pronounced dead; the female victim is being treated for serious injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
