Rochester, NY -- The Rochester Police Department is investigating an officer-involved shooting.

It happened Sunday evening after a foot-chase that began near Bay Street and Portland Avenue.

According to police, an officer spotted two people acting suspiciously -- one of whom turned out to be armed. The officer shot one of the men on Merrimac Street.

Police Chief James Sheppard says the officer has been placed on administrative duty, and police are checking if any of the activity was caught by surveillance cameras.

The wounded suspect is in the hospital. The other was taken into custody.
