Monroe County agency approves tax break for Costco

Rochester, NY -- Monroe County's industrial development agency, COMIDA, has approved a property tax abatement for a Costco store.

Costco is planning to put one of its warehouse club stores at the CityGate Development site at East Henrietta and Westfall roads in Rochester. The city asked COMIDA to approve the 15-year tax break.

The $30 million project is expected to create 225 new full-time jobs over the next three years.

The vote was one of several at Tuesday's COMIDA meeting. In other business, COMIDA approved a property tax abatement for The Outdoor Group, the parent company of seven manufacturing subsidiaries that serve the archery and bow hunting industries. The company is expanding in Henrietta and looking to build on 5 acres. The project is expected to create 50 new full-time jobs over three years.

And the agency approved a tax break for the redevelopment of Rochester's Midtown Tower.
