MSNBC Host to Give UofR Commencement Address

Rochester, NY -- TV host Chris Matthews has accepted an invitation to give the spring commencement address at the University of Rochester.

University President Joel Seligman calls Matthews "a respected voice in American politics."

Matthews is the author of seven bestselling books and hosts Hardball on MSNBC. He has worked as a journalist, a presidential speechwriter was a top aide to House Speaker Tip O'Neill in the 1980s. Matthews will receive an honorary doctor of letters degree at the ceremony May 18th, pending formal Board of Trustees approval.
