No Arrests in Theft of License Plates in Gates and Chili

Gates, NY -- There are no arrests yet in the weekend thefts of license plates from dozens of cars in Gates and Chili.

Gates police say more than 100 plates were stolen, primarily at apartment complexes, between Saturday night and Sunday morning.

The Monroe County Clerk says the Mobile DMV Unit located in Chili Town Hall will be open early,Tuesday only, to offer DMV services to residents of Gates and Chili who had license plates stolen over the weekend. The Chili Mobile DMV Unit will be open Tuesday from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm.

In order to replace stolen plates, residents need to bring in a police report, fill out the registration form (MV-82) and have valid driver license. There is no fee to replace stolen plates when a police report is submitted. Representatives from the Gates Police Department and the Sheriff’s Office will be on-site completing police reports.
