Rochester Arena to Keep Blue Cross Blue Shield Name 'Til 2028

Rochester, NY -- The city of Rochester and Blue Cross Blue Shield have agreed to continue their naming rights deal for the War Memorial arena.

The city's commissioner of neighborhood and business development, Carlos Carballada, says the city briefly considered looking for another partner -- but eventually approached Blue Cross about extending the current 15-year deal.

He says both sides saw benefits from extending the deal first signed in 1998.

Assuming the City Council approves in a few weeks, Blue Cross will continue to pay the city $195,000 per year through 2028.
