Â@Harris Corporation, which operates the Rochester-based RF Communications division, is talking about some layoffs in the next couple of months.
The company is announcing preliminary results for its third quarter that are weaker than expected. That is partly due to uncertainty over the federal budget, which the company says has delayed some decisions about government contracts.
Harris makes radios used by the military. Some international orders are also expected to be awarded later in the year than originally expected.
Harris says it will take some restructuring actions that include reducing its work force by about 150 to 180 jobs across a number of its locations, including Rochester. There's no word yet how many jobs will be affected in Rochester, but the action is expected to be completed in May.
