Talks between Wegmans, Teamsters, to resume

Rochester, NY -- Wegmans and Teamsters members are scheduled to meet at the table Friday in an attempt to reach an agreement on a new contract.

Last week, the union representing drivers and warehouse workers rejected what the company called its last, best offer. Lieutenant Governor Bob Duffy offered to mediate new talks, since the government shutdown made a federal mediator unavailable.

A major sticking point in the negotiations has been the company's proposal to move the workers to its own retirement program and out of a union plan that Wegmans says is underfunded.
