Rochester, N.Y. – 590 will remain closed until late this evening after a fatal crash early Monday afternoon. One person died when a tanker trailer went off 490 West Bound, crashing into the 590 south bound lane in Brighton Monday afternoon.
Brighton Fire Chief Stephan MacAdam says that Haz-Mat has cleared the scene and it is now deemed to be safe. Some of the contents of the Tanker Trailer spilled as a result of the crash. The contents turned out to be food waste.
MacAdam also says that state police are reconstructing the scene to determine how the accident occurred.
Additionally MacAdam told WHAM 1180 that 590 will likely remain closed until at least 8 P.M. Department of Transportation crews will clear the crash scene of debris once police finish their investigation and the vehicles are removed by a towing company.
The tanker trailer crashed into a car. The driver of the car died at the scene. The tanker driver was ejected from the vehicle and bystanders helped pull him to safety before emergency responders arrived on the scene.
