Wayne County D.A. Says He Won't Prosecute Case

(13WHAM)Clyde, N.Y. - Charges may soon be dismissed against Jesse Daniels, the man who locked four young vandals inside a closet until police arrived to help.

A letter given to 13WHAM News Thursday from the Wayne County District Attorney Rick Healy to a judge in the town of Galen reads as follows:

"Upon review of this matter, I decline prosecution of Mr. Daniels in the interest of justice. Therefore, the charges should be dismissed."

The four counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child were filed against Daniels after he told police he caught the four children vandalizing his father-in-law's house and detained them until officers arrived.

The children, who are 8 and 10, are charged with Burglary and Criminal Mischief. They appeared in Wayne County Family Court Wednesday.

Daniels said he is overwhelmed by the support he received from all over the world.
