ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) _ A woman trapped under a van after a crash in the city at Maple and Saxton streets was rescued with the help of police officers and a passersby who were able to lift the vehicle off of her until firefighters arrived.
Rochester police say the van and a car collided at about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, throwing the 52-year-old passenger onto the street as the van toppled over.
The officers and Good Samaritans hoisted the van to ease the pressure on her for about five minutes before firefighters were able to jack it up and free her.
The woman was reported in stable condition at a hospital. The 72-year-old man driving the van was also injured. Police say several people in the car ran from the scene.
