Rochester N.Y.- A Monroe County Judge has ruled against the Aquinas football team in a written decision regarding the team's disqualification from Section V playoffs.
@Supreme Court Justice Scott Odorisi ruled that the team will not be allowed to play.
Aquinas filed the suit this week after it was forced to forfeit its recent quarterfinal win against Pittsford for an apparent violation of Section V rules. At issue was the eligibility of the team's quarterback, Jake Zembiec. He played in two regular season games and was on the sideline for a mandatory third game - but he wasn't suited up. Aquinas said they thought the situation was acceptable, but this week the school was told the third appearance did not count because Zembiec was not ready to take the field.
The ruling means Pittsford will play Rush-Henrietta Saturday in the Class AA semifinals.
The game set for tomorrow at 4 p.m. at Sahlen's Stadium.
