New State Law Excludes Prison Time from Sex-Abuse

A new state law will no longer count prison time for repeat low level sex-offenses.

Under the new law those that serve time in jail for a sex-crime and commit another sex crime after they are released will not have the time in prison counted as time between offenses.

Sponsors say time incarcerated shouldn't count since offenders are removed from general society and unable to commit the crimes against innocent people.

The law will take effect Nov. 1.
