A Lonsberry Family Summer

Summertime with Bob, his wife and kids

  •
Young Jack is a Legos Star Wars boy and spends happy hours designing and building space ships. This one, made after church this week, is ready to defend the empire.
  •
Jack chose the rabbit, which he named Carrot. He was thrilled, as evidenced by the grip he's got on this creature.
  •
After the demolition derby, we went through the midway with the agreement that Jack could play one game. He chose to throw darts at balloons, hit three of three, and won his choice of stuffed animals.
  •
Goofballs at the Hemlock Demolition Derby -- me, Aubrey, Brandon and Hannah.
  •
Jack with a snack that started out as a chocolate-covered, frozen banana.
  •
Demolition derby is a combination of smalltown charm and second-hand smoke.
  •
Putting the metal to the metal.
  •
For a boy who grew up with Thomas the Tank Engine, the train display at the fair was awesome.
  •
Half an hour before the demolotion derby Saturday night, the skies opened and we retreated for the inside displays.
  •
Aubrey and Jackie feeding the goats.
  •
Brandon and Jack at the petting zoo.
  •
The demolition derby had a full field of drivers and cars.
  •
Young Robbie, who turns 2 this week, tore into his Cookie Monster - or is that Oscar the Grouch? - donut.
  •
Blue-eyed Ellie was going to take a pass on the donuts until she saw this frog.
  •
This Saturday, we started our adventure at Donuts Delite on Culver Road in Rochester. Delicious. Ready to dig in were Aubrey and Brandon, Mrs. Lonsberry, and Jack, Ellie and Robbie.
  •
We ended our Saturday by going - Aubrey, Brandon, Hannah, Jack and I - to the Hemlock Fair for the big demolition derby. Here's a truck that naturally caught my eye.

Dad and young Jack- Gone Fishing
  •
    "Look what I caught!"
  •
    A proud young fisherman.
  •
After six months of saving, Jack finally was able to afford his Lego's x-wing fighter.
  •
Big news at our house this week: We got a cat. And little Robbie has jelly on his lip.
  •
My politician wife being sworn in as a member of the School Board.
  •
Most of the whole fam damly at Hannah's 20th birthday party.
  •
Poor white trash swimming pool. Jack and Ellie in the creek down the road.
  •
Robbie's job is to put all the rocks in the creek.
  •
Blue-eyed Ellie a little drowsy at church.
  •
Three American kids watching fireworks on the Fourth of July.
  •
Hannah's second 5k, where she won her age group. I've been running races for 25 years and I've never won my age group.
  •
A chance meeting after a generation with Mr. Barry Smith, my history teacher and track coach. He got the patch in Vietnam.
  •
They use mine only for veterinary purposes.
  •
Jack, Ellie and Robbie at the office of Dr. Alan Robbins. Mommy stopped in for a post-Lasik check-up. Her eyes are perfect and the kids got goggles to play with.
  •
My wife, Amanda, wearing her Lasik goggles. Thanks to Dr. Alan Robbins she's newly 20-15.
  •
Young Jack Lonsberry, apprentice American stud, on the occasion of his first soccer game. He thinks the squad should call itself the Mount Morris Heroes.
  •
Jack's coaches are two ladies who've never played soccer, his mother and his sister Hannah.
  •
In the mountains hiking with my son Lee. If anybody needs a couple of radio guys, we do happen to find ourselves underemployed.
  •
Not wanting to miss the u-pick season, we went out to get some strawberries. Here, Hannah and Jack take to the fields.
  •
    Quality control is everything.
  •
Like locusts we descended upon the fields.
  •
The queen of the farm, dear Sophie.
  •
Yes, Robbie, the quality impresses us all.
  •
Blue-eyed Ellie with proof of her efforts.
  •
    Little Robbie displays his handiwork.
  •
    Life is good.
  •
    Life is GREAT!
  •
We may have picked more than we took home.
  •
Now that is a lot of strawberries.
  •
Jack and Robbie being American brothers in the back of the truck.
  •
    At the Maplewood rose show.
  •
I told you we were at a rose show.
  •
Gracias, Senor Mango. At the Rochester Public Market. Great prices, great experience, great quality.
