My wife and I went to Darien Lake for a Bon Jovi concert. He was wonderful and we had a great time.
My wife got Bon Jovi tickets half price on the Internet. They were lawn tickets.
I saw a booth that said we could upgrade to chairs under the tent for $10 extra. Big improvement.
The concert began. Everyone stood up. I didn't.
I think I would have recognized more of the songs if I had been 40 and had ovaries.
Is that Rick Springfield?
Then the hurricane came. Got so bad that they suspended the concert while the lawn people were swept away by a flashflood.
During the rain delay, this large man took off his shirt, to the delight of the assembled middle-aged women. To remind them of the hunks of man flesh waiting for them at home, I took off my shirt, too.
Then the concert resumed.
There were lots of pretty lights.
I was listening to Alabama that decade, so I missed Bon Jovi. But it was clear he and the audience were sincerely fond of one another. It was truly a sweet and touching thing to see. Folks had a great time.
Here's my date for the evening, the lovely Mrs. Lonsberry. She put up with me pretty well.
And when we got home, we found our little angels happily asleep. Here are Scott and Blue-eyed Ellie.
